SAN FRANCISCO — Defenders of marriage in California will appeal today's ruling from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit that upheld a district judge’s decision against the state’s constitutional amendment protecting marriage. The ProtectMarriage.com legal defense team, including Alliance Defense Fund attorneys, expressed no surprise that the lawsuit over the amendment, which protects marriage as the union of one man and one woman, would progress beyond the three-judge 9th Circuit panel as has been long predicted by parties on both sides.

COLUMBUS-The governor’s State of the State address is historically delivered in the Ohio House of Representatives chamber at the Statehouse in Columbus. This year’s address—the first delivered by a governor outside of the Statehouse—will be delivered to a special joint session of the General Assembly convened at Wells Academy, the top-performing public elementary school in Ohio and part of Steubenville City Schools. Wells shares a spacious auditorium with the Steubenville High School which allows for more Ohioans to attend. Georgia Supreme Court Strikes Assisted Suicide Law

WASHINGTON, DC /Christian Newswire/ -- Citing a violation of First Amendment Rights, the Georgia State Supreme Court yesterday struck the state's 1994 law which classified as a felony anyone who "publicly advertises, offers or holds himself out as offering that he or she will intentionally and actively assist another person in the commission of suicide and commits any overt act to further that purpose." The decision leaves Georgia with no protections against assisting suicide.
